Good Earth Collective were formed in March 2016 by songwriter, actor and theatre director Steve Ansell. The band developed and evolved until in 2021 the original three band members; Steve and vocalists Julie Harris and Jan Ansell were joined by multi-instrumentalists Steve Robinson, Andy Wright and Steve 'Palms' Dent. Good Earth Collective play the hook filled original acoustic roots music of Steve Ansell. Sweet harmonies, powerful delivery and tender melodies are combined with dry wit and insightful lyricism. The sound is drawn from punk, country, folk and pop all forged in the crucible of suburban daydreams. The band call it Anglicana but names aren't important. Good Earth Collective are powerful live act whose professionalism on and off stage has made them popular with audiences and organisers across the country.

The band have performed at venues and festivals throughout the UK and are regulars at Butefest and the Holmfirth Festival of folk where they have been programming the hugely popular 'Session' stage since 2014. GEC have shared the stage with a multitude of artists including Paul Young (Los Pacaminos), China Crisis, Gilmore and Roberts, Big Country, Hamell on Trial, Elephant Sessions, Scouting for Girls, Sam Kelly, Wildwood Kin and many others. During the period of lock down the band hosted a digital edition of the Holmfirth Festival of Folk with O'Hooley and Tidow as their special guests as well as a number of other streamed events. The band continue to perform and promote digital events alongside their live work.

The band usually perform as a six or four piece and are a big presence on stage in any configuration BUT they pack light. The band are experienced at festival touring and understand the realities of booking a large act. GEC can adapt their set up to accommodate most events and situations and can clear a stage in 5mins if required.

"You were all absolutely amazing and some of the nicest people i’ve ever met! Thank you so much for everything and we will see you next year!" Hayley Ewing (Director - Butefest)
